In the USA, Veterans Day annually falls on November 11.

This day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice,

which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918.

Veterans are thanked for their services to the United States on Veterans Day.

We thank all of our Veterans!

Evolving from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain,

modern Halloween has become less about literal ghosts and ghouls and more about costumes and candy.

The Celts used the day to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter,

and also believed that this transition between the seasons was a bridge to the world of the dead.

Over the millennia the holiday transitioned from a somber pagan ritual to

a day of merriment, costumes, parades and sweet treats for children and adults.

We want to take this time to wish you a
Happy Thanksgiving!
Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.
— Henry Van Dyke
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
and your pies take the prize,
and may your Thanksgiving dinner
stay off your thighs!

Happy Father’s Day

Fathers, like mothers, are not born.

Men grow into and fathering is a very important stage in their development

May all Fathers enjoy their Day!

from Gerchick Real Estate

Freedom comes at the cost of many lives. On Memorial Day we like to remember and thank those fallen heroes that died fighting for our country.

This honorary day is celebrated across the United States of America on the last Monday in May.

Memorial Day tends to be confused with Veterans Day.

The former is a remembrance of all those men and women that lost their life while serving in the armed forces, while the latter celebrates those who served in the U.S. military.

On this day many people visit cemeteries and memorials to honor all of those heroes with many volunteers placing an American flag on each grave.

The U.S. flag is raised to the top of the staff and then lowered to half staff, where it stays until noon.

After that it is raised to full-staff for the rest of the day, which is symbolic as the flag rises and so is their memory by the living who promise to not let their sacrifice be in vain and continue to fight for liberty and justice for all.

Be safe this weekend and we wish you all good thoughts

Happy Cinco Del Mayo

Cinco de Mayo (pronounced: [ˈsiŋko ðe ˈmaʝo]; Spanish for “Fifth of May”) is a celebration held on May 5.

The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza.

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has taken on a significance beyond that in Mexico.

In the U.S. the date has become associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture. In Mexico, the commemoration of the battle continues to be mostly ceremonial, such as through military parades.

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico’s Independence Day—the most important national holiday in Mexico—which is celebrated on September 16, commemorating the Cry of Dolores that initiated the war of Mexican independence from Spain.

Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day.

What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.

We at Gerchick Real Estate

want to join in on the Green!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day
